Hello there – I live in Northumberland not far from the route of Hadrian’s Wall, above the Tyne Valley near Corbridge and Hexham. Place is an important inspiration and inquiry for me – sparking many overlaps with deep ecology, history and social justice.
I write poetry that touches on these things, and have also been exploring the possibilities of prose with a recent experiment in eco-memoir – A History of Abandonment, an early sample of which was longlisted for the Nan Shepherd Prize 2023.
Here, I mostly write about what I’m thinking about in between my writing for the page and send out what a friend calls ‘postcards’ on an irregular basis. I also host a monthly Writing Hour, where people can write alongside each other, encouraged by their joint endeavour – finding the words for how it feels to be alive at this point in time.
You can find out more about my books etc at my website – lindafrance.co.uk
